AI & technology advisory

The AI challenge isn't technical. It's human.

Most AI programmes stall not because the technology is wrong, but because the organisation wasn't ready — the culture, the behaviours, the leadership confidence, the operating model. We work on the human and organisational conditions that make AI actually deliver.

No vendor agenda. No hype. No paralysis. Just practical clarity on what to do first.

Talk to Stephen about your situation

No spin. No sticky plasters. Just results.

Behaviour first. Evidence-led. The courage to fix what others couldn't.

Where AI programmes actually fail

Most boards are asking the wrong question.

They're asking "what can AI do?" when the more important question is "how do we lead an organisation that's learning to use it?" The second question is a human and leadership challenge — and it's the one that determines whether the investment delivers.

The board is anxious, not moving

Leaders uncertain about AI tend to commission strategies rather than make decisions. The result is a lot of activity and very little movement.

The organisation is split

Half excited, half concerned. Without deliberate work on the human change, both groups dig in — and the middle does nothing.

The operating model isn't ready

AI tools deployed into an organisation that hasn't changed how it makes decisions or governs outputs — underdeliver, every time.

What we actually do

We create the conditions for AI to work — not just the roadmap.

C-Suite confidence and decision-making. Operating model redesign. Behavioural conditions across the organisation. The things that determine whether AI delivers — not whether it was installed.

Board confidence — from anxious and commissioning reports to clear and making decisions

Operating model readiness — governance, decision rights and ways of working updated for AI

Behavioural adoption — people moving with AI, not waiting to be told

No vendor agenda — we're not selling technology, so we can tell you what will actually work

Practise what you preach

AI isn't something Stephen advises on from the outside.

The AI tools below are embedded in how Hello People works day to day — in how research is done, how meetings are captured, how complex problems are synthesised, and how clients get better thinking faster. This isn't a technology showcase. It's transparency about how the work actually gets done.

An advisor who uses AI well can do more, think faster, and bring better-informed perspectives to every conversation. That's a direct benefit to clients.

Primary AI partner

Claude — Anthropic

The primary AI used across Hello People's work — for research, synthesis, writing, strategic analysis, document production and building client-facing tools. Claude's strength is nuanced, contextual thinking that handles complex, ambiguous situations well. The entire Hello People website was built in conversation with Claude.

Used for: strategic research · document creation · proposal development · website and tools · complex problem synthesis

Complementary AI

ChatGPT — OpenAI

Used alongside Claude for specific tasks where a second AI perspective adds value — stress-testing analysis, generating alternative framings, and tasks where GPT-4's particular strengths complement Claude's. Using two AI systems deliberately avoids the echo chamber risk of relying on a single model's perspective.

Used for: cross-checking analysis · alternative framings · specific writing tasks · perspective diversity

Meeting intelligence

Plaud.ai

AI-powered voice capture and transcription for meetings, conversations and interviews. Plaud creates accurate, structured records of what was said — so nothing gets lost, misremembered or reconstructed after the fact. In diagnostic work especially, capturing exactly what people say matters. It's the difference between a summary and evidence.

Used for: client meetings · diagnostic interviews · stakeholder conversations · accurate record keeping

Autonomous research

Manus

An autonomous AI agent capable of conducting multi-step research, analysis and task execution independently. Where Claude and ChatGPT work in conversation, Manus can be directed to a complex research task and work through it systematically. Used for deep-dive sector research, competitor analysis and complex background preparation before client engagements.

Used for: sector research · competitive analysis · pre-engagement preparation · multi-source synthesis

The principle that governs all of it

AI accelerates the work. Human judgement governs it.

Every AI output in Hello People's work is reviewed, challenged and validated by Stephen before it reaches a client. AI handles synthesis, research and production — the things that take time but don't require thirty years of organisational experience. Stephen handles the judgement calls — the diagnosis, the honest challenge, the assessment of what will actually work in this specific organisation with these specific people.

AI does

Research · synthesis · production · first drafts · pattern recognition · meeting capture

Stephen does

Diagnosis · honest challenge · judgement calls · relationship · what will actually work

Client gets

Faster, better-informed thinking · more depth · nothing that hasn't been validated · no spin

Why this matters for clients

An AI-augmented advisor delivers more than a conventional one.

Faster preparation

What used to take days of desk research takes hours. Every engagement starts with deeper sector context, more comprehensive background, and better-informed questions.

Nothing gets lost

AI-captured meeting records mean diagnostic conversations are preserved accurately. What people actually said — not what was remembered — informs the analysis.

Better validated thinking

Running analysis across multiple AI systems before it reaches a client reduces the risk of single-perspective blind spots. More robust thinking, faster.

What Hello People does in AI advisory

Board and C-Suite AI readiness · Operating model design for AI · Behavioural change for AI adoption · Leadership confidence · Governance frameworks · Practical AI strategy that moves organisations from anxious to acting

What Hello People doesn't do

Technology selection · Software implementation · Data engineering · IT infrastructure · Vendor management. We'll help you find the right partners for these — but we don't do them ourselves.

What changes

Senior leaders. Confidence to act.

Stephen has worked with senior leadership populations at significant scale on exactly this challenge — moving organisations from anxious about AI to confident and moving. The work isn't about technology literacy. It's about decision-making confidence and organisational readiness.

The pattern is consistent across sectors: boards that commission strategies without making decisions, organisations that are split between excitement and concern, and leaders who privately know they need to move but aren't sure how.

Boards go from commissioning reports to making decisions.

Organisations move with AI rather than waiting to be told to.

No hype. No paralysis. Practical clarity on what to do first.
